Our storage bed frames NZ range comes in two types: gas-lift storage bases and drawer storage frames, available in King Single through to Super King.

Gas-Lift vs Drawer Storage: What's the Difference?

  • Gas-lift storage beds use a hydraulic strut to lift the entire mattress platform, revealing one large open cavity underneath. This suits bulkier or irregular items like suitcases, spare bedding, or seasonal storage, since there's no divider limiting what fits.
  • Drawer storage frames have fixed drawers built into the base, which you access from the side without lifting the mattress. This suits items you reach for often, like clothing or everyday linen, since you don't need to clear the bed first.

If you're mostly storing bulky, occasional-use items, gas-lift is usually the better fit. If you want quick, regular access, drawer storage is more convenient.
